Love is a strange thing. Psychologists have been trying for centuries to learn why people are attracted to a particular person and not others. Until science has it all figured out, we have to go through the painstaking process of meeting and exploring others in hopes of finding the "one."

This is a song about one such experience of meeting someone for the first time, falling and then having it vanish as quickly as it came. As I looked back, I never knew why the relationship vaporized; quite literally over night. My only guess was that she knew what she wanted... she wanted a cowboy.

She Wants A Cowboy

Words and music by Greg Aspen

Just yesterday I drove through the pouring rain,
I had to meet this cowgirl.
She said, "The kids are gone and I'd like to spend some time,
to get to know you better and fill these lonely arms of mine."

I know what she wants, she always gets what she wants.
And she knows what she wants, what she wants, what she wants is a cowboy.

Well it was late when I finally reached her gate.
She said, "Come in here by the fire."
I pulled her close and we lay lost awhile in time.
Without a word her soul bled softly into mine.

I know what she wants, she always gets what she wants.
And she knows what she wants, what she wants, what she wants is a cowboy.

She was a cowgirl all that night.
I could be country all my life.

Well it was day when I slowly drove away,
wondering how I had deceived her.
She never did say why she push me away.
Maybe the hair, the Benz, or my shallow city ways.

I know what she wants, she always gets what she wants.
She knows what she wants, what she wants, what she wants.
She knows what she wants, what she wants, what she wants.
She knows what she wants, what she wants what she wants is a cowboy.
